Denitza Toptchiyska is an Associate professor of Law at the New Bulgarian University since 2016 lecturing on General Theory of Law and Information Society Law.

After graduating in Law and obtaining a Doctoral degree with a dissertation on the topic of EU Data Protection Policy at Sofia University, she worked as a legal expert at the Communications Regulation Commission. She is the author of the monography “The Rule of Law. Theoretical aspects” and specialised publications in the field of legal theory, data protection and freedom of information.

In the academic year 2020-2021 Denitza Toptchiyska was a Fulbright visiting research scholar at the University of Notre Dame, USA and a visiting scholar at the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas, France working on her comparative research project “Law, governance and new technologies: US and EU regulatory approaches.
